Admission

Application are now submitted online. To apply for your child, please click here.

It can take anytime between 1-3 weeks for an application to be processed. During busy periods, such as the beginning of the academic year, it may take up to 1 – 2 months to process. Once done, our admin will get in touch with details of when your child can start; this depends on whether there is space available in your chosen class. In instances where there is no space available, the child will be put on a waiting list.

Prior to your child starting, you will be asked to set up a Direct Debit payment for the fees. You will also be invited to attend a mandatory introductory session wherein the headteacher will discuss the rules and regulations of the madrasah.

Attendance, Holidays & Shift changes

To change your child’s shift, please call the office between the hours of 2:30pm – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. Please note, although we will do our best to accommodate, shift changes are subject to spaces and availabilities.

Our madrasah classes is split into 2 shifts. The first shift runs from 4:40pm – 6:00pm and the second shift runs from 6:25pm – 7:45pm. There is extremely high demand for the first shift, and as such, we have a shift-change waiting list in place to move children from second shift to first shift. We give preference to children in the following order:

  1. Applicants with siblings already in first shift
  2. Children whose mother/father teaches at MEC
  3. Position in waiting list

Please send a WhatsApp message in advance to the MEC Office mobile. Alternatively, you can send a signed letter with your child. Please include details of your child’s name, class, year and shift. The office mobile number is shared with you on successful application of your child.

We highly advise parents to arrange holidays during the days allocated by the  madrasah for holidays. This is to ensure your child’s education is not affected detrimentally. However, due to emergency reasons and scenarios where holidays cannot be organised during official madrasah holidays, please call the MEC office between 2:30pm – 4:30pm and request to speak to the principal to discuss the matter further.

Fees and Payments

In our endeavour to allow all children to attend, we have kept our fees as low as possible, starting from £45 per month for 5 days a week, covering Tajweed & Islamic studies. This works out to £1.92 per hour of lessons – a very low rate so that all parents can secure their child’s Islamic education. In comparison, one hour of private tuition for subjects such as England, Maths & Science can cost anywhere between £10 – £40 per hour.

For the full breakdown of fees for different classes, please see below:

  • Weekday Madrasah (Tajweed & Islamic Studies) – £45/month
  • Weekend Madrasah (Tajweed & Islamic Studies) – £45/month
  • Hifz (boys) – £55/month
  • Hifz (girls) – £50/month

A mandatory Direct Debit must be set up for fee payment prior to your child starting at the Muslim Education Centre. The instructions for this will be sent via email on successful processing of your application. For any further questions or queries, please email info@mecawt.co.uk

A reduction in fees by £5 a month is applicable if a family submits more than one child. If one child attends more than one class, there will be a reduction of £5 for each extra class enrolled. Note: The minimum amount payable for additional children is £20.00. Sibling discounts will automatically be applied by our admin and parents will be informed of the fee breakdown prior to the first payment.

In our commitment to making quality Islamic education accessible to all, we have kept our fees as affordable as possible, starting from just £45 per month for 5 days a week, with 1 hour and 20 minutes of learning each day. This equates to approximately £1.92 per hour of teaching. However, we understand some parents or guardians may still find it challenging to cover the costs.

At our madrasah, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. We are here to support parents and guardians who may be facing difficulties in paying fees. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please do not hesitate to reach out to us in confidence. You can contact us via email at info@mecawt.co.uk or by phone at 01494 522786 between 2pm and 4pm.
