Alhamdulillah, since 1999, MEC has been conducting and solemnising the marriage of many of our congregants and the wider public. We are grateful to have witnessed marriages that span over 3 generations within a single family, subhanAllah. The nikāh ceremony is conducted in accordance to the Qurān & Sunnah, ensuring that all legal & Islamic guidelines are followed.
Process & Procedure
- Fill in the form at the bottom of the page to request our Nikāh service.
- You will be emailed two documents for the groom and the bride to fill out. The documents are to confirm their personal details such as address, date of birth, evidence of their faith, and their current martial status.
- The bride will also be required to give her consent for a male-representative (guardian) to represent her in the ceremony in the presence of two witnesses. The details of the guardian and witnesses will be collected.
- Once these documents are completed and received, the Nikāh certificate will be printed and ratified. A payment of £100 is to be made to the MEC for the nikāh fee.
- The groom, the guardian and the witnesses are to attend on the date & time stipulated and the imām will conduct the nikāh. ID will be required to be brought in on the day to confirm the identifies of the parties involved. The bride is not required to attend but can choose to do so in a separate room on-site.
Eligibility
Both bride & groom are required to be Muslim; where needed, evidence of one’s shahadah may be requested. Both parties are required to give explicit approval to the marriage.
Contributions
There is a fee of £100 to be paid by the groom’s family. This is required to be paid prior to the nikāh date.
Location, Dates & timings
NIkāh is conducted on-site at the MEC, usually after dhuhr salāh. In certain circumstances, we may be able to accommodate for ceremonies conducted at an external venue. A specific date & time can be requested by the prospective couple, and we will try our best to accommodate.
